Bait (15)

“One of the defining British films of the decade” – Mark Kermode

Director: Mark Jenkin
Writers: Mark Jenkin
Starring: Edward Rowe, Mary Woodvine, Simon Shepherd
Running time: 1h 29mins

Cornish film-maker Mark Jenkin has created a breakthrough thrilling feature, stunningly shot on vintage 16mm camera using monochrome Kodak stock.

Bait is an authentic tale of tensions between locals and tourists in a once-thriving fishing village. Fisherman siblings are at odds – one turns to the tourist trade suing his late father’s boat on the moneyed sightseeing trips. Their childhood home is now a get-away for London money. And just as their struggles to restore the family to their traditional place creates increasing friction with tourists and locals alike, a tragedy at the heart of the family changes his world.
